The Opportunity

An established private investment firm is seeking an Investment Associate to join its NYC investment team.

This newly created position will focus primarily on private equity investments across the natural resources and infrastructure sectors, including oil and gas, power, and renewables.

Candidates must have a relevant energy industry investment or project finance background. The successful candidate will work closely with senior investment professionals throughout the full investment lifecycle, including opportunity evaluation, transaction execution and portfolio management.

The role offers significant responsibility, direct exposure to senior decision-makers and internal/external stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

• Evaluate private equity investment opportunities within the energy industry
\n
• Build detailed financial models, valuation analyses and investment return scenarios.
\n
• Conduct commercial, financial, operational and strategic due diligence.
\n
• Prepare investment memoranda and materials for investment committee review.
\n
• Support transaction execution across acquisitions, financings, restructurings and exits.
\n
• Monitor portfolio company performance and assist with strategic, financial and operational initiatives.
\n
• Work directly with management teams, lenders, legal counsel, consultants and other external advisors.
\n
• Conduct industry research and help identify new investment themes and opportunities.
\n
• Support business development and relationship-building with executives, intermediaries and industry participants.

Qualifications

\n
• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Engineering or a related discipline, with a strong academic record.
\n
• Approximately 2–5 years of total professional experience in investment or project finance
\n
• Relevant experience within investment banking, private equity, corporate development, transaction services or another transaction-focused investment role
\n
• Strong financial modeling, valuation and transaction-analysis capabilities.
\n
• Experience evaluating M&A transactions and conducting financial due diligence.
\n
• Clear interest in oil and gas, energy infrastructure and private equity investing.
\n
• Strong analytical ability, attention to detail and commercial judgment.
\n
• Ability to manage multiple workstreams in a fast-paced transaction environment.
\n
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
\n
• Advanced proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint.
\n
• An MBA is not required.
\n
